Mesopotamia

Mesopotamia is a region to the north of the Pampas and to the east of the Andes Mountains. This is between the Parana and Paraguay rivers. The location between the two rivers is why it is called the Argentinean Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia means “between the rivers" in greek. Mesopotamia is an extension of the Parana Plateau in Brazil. It also includes the part of the Gran Chaco that is in Argentina. The Gran Chaco also goes all the way to Paraguay and Bolivia. Mesopotamia's many rivers have spectacular falls, like Iguazu Falls. Mesopotamia is full of lots of marshy lowlands that rise up into bigger hills. Many of the rivers bordering Mesopotamia are now used to create a huge amount of hydroelectric energy. The Mesopotamia is surrounded by Gran Chaco to the west, Paraguay to the north, Brazil to the northeast, and Uruguay to the southeast. The Mesopotamia is a small region in Argentina that is in between the Parana and Paraguay rivers and is home to some of Argentina’s biggest sites.
